I’m afraid of it.
I’m away visiting my parents - my dad starts chemo on Wednesday so I’ll be here with him until Friday.
I’ll try to post, but you never know. Miss me, okay?
Keep coming back. and…watch for a new custom designed theme by Chelle coming soon! That should keep you coming back.

On with the post…
——————————————————
I have a confession to make.
I’m scared of E-bay.
It’s a little humiliating for an internet-savvy gal like myself.
So many people love it. I’m guessing my sister in law does 90% of her shopping on E-bay. My exported SoCal friend gets awesome deals on a regular basis.
I’m scared of inflated shipping charges.
I’m scared of buying something I don’t like and not being able to return it.
I’m scared of nasty exchange rates.
I’m scared of selling something and it costing me more to ship than I had anticipated.
I’m scared of selling something and not receiving my money for it.
I have bid on two items in the last week and breathed a huge sigh of relief when I was outbid.
Help. How do I get over this fear?

They have ratings on people where you can see how many GOOD DEALS that they have made. For instances weather or not they have PAID for the items that they have baught, OR weather or not they have shipped the items that they have sold. So I would always stick with a person who has a good rating.
I would aslo suggest looking at the shipping BEFORE you buy. Because there are times when you are told it would cost this much shipping from this person, then when you turn around and see another person shipping the EXACT same thing from the exact same place… it costs WAY LESS. So you can check out the shipping before hand.
Also, if you don’t like the item that you baught, you could always re-sell it on ebay.
HTH, and by the way, I DID MISS YOU! I always do when you aren’t on for a few days!

I will be thinking of all of you on Wednesday. I’m sure your dad is glad you’re there.
That will be a nice bonus for all of you.
I’m heading to Nfld to my conference on Wednesday and won’t be around for about two weeks. I’m going off to the wilderness and doubt I will have computer access, so I hope all goes well for all of you and we shall see you on here later in August.
Take care.

Oh, and I’ve never bought anything on E-Bay, as I’m also a chicken when it comes to that, and usually I haven’t got any extra $$ anyway! HA! I have friends who shop on it all the time.

HAve fun tara, and good luck to your dad Nic, I forgot to add that in my first post.
Hope all is well!

Hope all is going well with your Dad
I will work on some tweaking so it is even more ready for once you get home!!
Take care of you and Lil Guy and the rest of the family!!
Ebay is a piece of cake …. Once you WIN your first auction you will never look back!
Thanks and thanks!
I have actually won one thing before - just a little Flames thingy for BG’s stocking. I’m still not converted!

I didn’t realize your dad was having chemo…he will be in my prayers as he goes through that this week.
I was the same way when Ebay first got big and popular! I’m not an ebay junky, but I’m not afraid anymore
My first thought was along the lines of “you’re going to bid on something from a complete stranger and have faith that they are going to not only deliver it, but deliver the product described in good shape? How can you trust that will happen? What if you just pay and never hear from them again?!”
I was very leery! But I haven’t had any horror stories, I usually check their ratings to see how many positives and negatives…and if they sell a lot.

I’m not scared of ebay, I’m just too lazy and impatient to sit through the whole auction process. Unless its something that I absolutely positively can’t find anywhere else, I usually cheat and just search for items near my zipcode. Typically you can email the person and find out if they will just let you pick up the item locally instead of dealing with the crazy shipping thing (the inflated shipping charges REALLY annoy me too!)
Praying for your Dad to have excellent results from the chemo and a swift, healthy recovery

What everyone else said. I never bid on anyone who has less than a 98% rating– and I always check negatives. I’ve had one horrifying experience and I warned everyone I knew about the lady. As for shipping- it seems I never charge enough- I always end up paying more which seriously stinks! But, oh well.
many thoughts with your dad, you and your family this week.

I’ll be keeping you and your dad in my prayers.
I buy and sell on Ebay and have no problems. Stephanie is right; check out their seller rankng before you bid. Anything under 97% I usually stay away from.
The only incident I had was when someone stole my Ebay identity through a YAHOO email. I received a message that looked like it was from EBAY, I clicked on it, and later found out I was scammed when someone used my account to post 20 digital cameras for sale.
I alerted EBAY fraud department, and they got my password changed, and the items off my account.
I could have avoided it all by not clicking on the suspicious email link.
All in all, I’ve had great experiences with Ebay.

I’m scared of Flickr so I know what you mean.
Love to your Dad.

Ooo, I hate that the shipping prices have upped. It didn’t used to be that way, back in the good ol’ days of eBay, when sellers charged you the actual postage or shipping cost . . . what a concept. Now the shipping costs are often worse than mail-order catalogs’.
But you can get good deals there. If you really want to buy something on eBay, start with something small and inexpensive.
Fun!
And something fun to blog about when it arrives in the mail so we can all see what you got . . . !
