All I Want For Christmas…
I already received.
My dad is cancer free!
After a biopsy, dozens of scans, blood work, bladder and prostate removal, urostomy creation, chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and more chemotherapy, Papa Jack had a CT scan last week. He had his follow up with the oncologist today, and was declared cancer free. We got exactly what we wanted for Christmas.
Here’s an excerpt from the boy’s first letter to Santa:
…I hope that you, Mrs. Claus, the elves and the reindeer are staying nice and warm as you prepare for your big night. I will leave you some milk and a special piece of meat pie, with a beer that you can take with you to drink after you’re all done driving for the night. Safety first! Please remember that if you get tired you and your team can stop for a rest at my Grandma Betty and Grandpa Jack’s house. That’s where I’ll be.
For Christmas this year I would like something to help support me as I learn to walk and also a toy to play with, please. Our family’s special wish is for us all to be healthy and happy, to have lots of time to play together, and for my Grandpa Jack’s cancer to be gone. Maybe you and God can work on that one together…
Thanks Santa! Thanks God! Thanks doctor and nurses! Thanks to everyone who prayed, hugged, emailed, phoned, and donated.
Cancer sucks, and my dad kicked its’ ass.
