Killing me softly with this song… →

Now you’ll really want to sleep with me…updated

For the first time ever, we have expensive sheets. Like, really expensive sheets. Sheets I would never have bought full price. Four hundred thread count, luxury Egyptian cotton sheets.

(What makes Egyptian cotton better than North American cotton? I don’t know, but it’s truly amazing.)

We’ve been living with one set of sheets for our bed since we got married. That means they go in the wash about noon on Saturday. I remember to put them in the dryer around 6 pm. Then we remember on our way to bed that there are no sheets on it and cussing ensues.

So, yesterday, I rocked out to the Bon Jovi in my badass mommy-van all the way to Linens and Things to check out their sale. (Incidentally, on my way, I saw no less than three illustrative examples of the big truck~small dick phenomenon, but that’s another post.)

Regular $140.00. Clearance 70% off. Coupon for an additional 20% off from the flier. Sale price of $34.00 for the smoothest, softest, almost too nice to have sex on, most luxurious sheets my big white butt has ever been lucky enough to sleep on. They’re white, which is kind of scary, but that was the only colour they had for such a drastically inexpensive price.

(And I got two pairs of these as well. Buy 1 Get 1 @ 50%. I got “dill” and “saffron.” Sounds yummy, no? Don’t you want to eat my sheets now? Much cheaper regular price than the other set. Not as nice, but much nicer than what we had before. I’m now addicted to sheets. I think I’ll change them every 2 days now. Like Oprah.)

I highly recommend spending extra money on sheets if you can. It took me over 30 years to figure it out, but it’s worth it.

UPDATE: Having great sheets did not, unfortunately, miraculously give me the ability to fold a freaking fitted sheet. Grrrr. Anyone have any tips? Right now I have a giant pile of wrinkles that’s pretty much rolled up and then smooshed.

You have until Friday at midnight to enter to win the cutest kids booties you ever did see at MMO. The prizes are size medium (6-18 mos). Sorry, I forgot to mention that in the post. They make a great gift if they don’t fit your kids!

What a score for you! The sheets sound wonderful. I had to giggle over the part where you stated that it was time for bed and there were no sheets on the bed.

    That’s happened here before. :)

Chelle - at this price, you could get them now! You should get the MIL to grab you some. Cheap like borscht!

Deb - Isn’t it frustrating? Grrr. No more of that here, though.

Rach - I hear you on the student loans, but they were seriously cheap! Look in the clearance bins!

They look lovely… have you heard of Brunswick sheets? They are my FAVORITES to sleep on - a wedding gift I was quite happy to keep custody of. :D Oban likes them, too. They are like sleeping on a fluffy cloud - perfect for cold winter nights.

You’re right - those booties will make perfect baby gifts for th lucky winners. :)

When are you going back to work? Is that a dirty question? Are you going to continue being Super Mom and keep this site up and running??? I’m in awe of all you do now… why did I bring this up? Forget I asked. Enjoy your mat leave!

I’ve always heard Egyptian thread count was really, really, really nice, but I’ve never felt them, much less slept on them! You’ve got me wanting to buy a set now!

Maybe that’s what we can do this weekend … go for coffee and sheet shopping. I NEVER find deals when I go out … I think I need a lucky person to go with me.

Try this. This is how I get my fitted sheets to look nice. However, my problem is that I fold them nicely and put them in the linen basket and then my daughter puts them away and they end up in a mess anyway! They get shoved in the closet!

ooo! I want some of those sheets! I might have to see if we have any here!

Can you help me with the html for your banner as well? I can’t get it to work.

    Thanks!

Glad you’re loving your sheets. I tried the 400 count sheets, they were always wrinkled. Perhaps just a bad brand?

    Elleoz - I emailed you.

Mamacita - Mine are wrinkled too. But I don’t care. Is that bad?

    Tara - No, I haven’t, but I found them online: http://www.brunswicksheets.com/

At the earliest I go back mid-April. If we can afford it, I may try to sub for a few days just for grocery money and stay off until September. We’ll be dirt poor, though. I try not to think about it. I’m in denial.

You should look in your secret hiding spaces for those 20’s that your mom always told you to keep in case of emergency. Remember when you found two or three in your van that one day? HA HA!!

Tuck the opposing corners one into the other and then let that part of the sheet drop down. Gather it up and do the other end the same way. You should be left with something like a rectangle which is easier to fold.

Or do as I do and just smooth them out and fold them any way they’ll fit in the linen closet.

Just because I think you’re cool, I’ll tell you about my favorite shopping website. Overstock.com. Cheap!!! Amazing quality on most everything. All of my sheets and towels are from here. I’ve even purchased furniture. Best thing, shipping is around $3 for a flat rate, even on sofas. I got an amazing 100% cashemere throw for less than $100. Hope you like it. :)
