Imagine naming somebody else’s kid.

Such power!

So enormous is the prestige that comes with such an honour that there need not be extra incentive.

But? In Blogland? There must be prizes!

You’d have to be a little kooky to let some internet stranger name your kid(s), but I’ve rarely if ever been accused of being normal.

So…in the interest of not typing “the boy” and “the girl” for much longer, I give you…

It’s pretty easy really. Gather your creative juices, give your brain buttons a little rub-a-dub-dub* and leave a comment with your suggestion(s) for what my littles should be called on the internet. Enter as many times as you like. Feel free to include real names, silly names, names that aren’t names…whatever floats your boat. Remember, I have one boy and one girl and the chance of me calling my son Jane, even if it’s only on the web, are pretty damn slim. You can suggest a name for one or both kids. Or two or three for both. Or for one. I’m easy.

Kind of but not completely off topic random story: When the girl was born, the operating theatre staff wanted to know what the names were that we had chosen for a boy or a girl. They asked before she was delivered while they were prepping me and we didn’t yet know what gender she was. I’m probably missing some important details here because I was completely stoned and exhausted by the time we got to the operating theatre but the gist is…we refused to tell them but if it was a girl she’d be named after my grandmother. I wasn’t quite stoned enough to tell them what my grandma’s name is when they asked, though. One nurse said she’d just call her “Bertha.” Another said “No, Gertrude!” And the whole crazy group of them decided that if she was a girl her name would forever be “Bertha Gertrude” to them.

*Not nearly as pornographic or fun as it sounds. It’s what I say to my students before they write or start a math activity…we just rub our temples or scalps…but you can rub whatever works for you.

   Sort of serious entry - Mungo (means loveable, boy name) and Muna (means desire, girl name); playing on the starting with MU thing.

   I hate it, because I’m usually creative, but I’m totally drawing a blank her. We call ours according to their personalities by animal names, 12 year old (who is constantly jumping and hopping aroudn) is Kangaroo and 2 year old (who loves us VIOLENTLY) is called Little Bear. Seriously, my two year old can take me out launching himself at me in his idea of a hug.
   Could you give us an idea of their personalities or quirks?

   The boy is incredibly energetic, athletic, talkative, is a social butterfly and loves his sister (and the rest of us) a ton. His nickname used to be Dr. Destructo for good reason - he is magnetically attracted to anything dangerous and loves to make a mess. However, he now loves to clean up too!

   The girl is only 4 weeks old but so far is perfection in the form of a baby. Sleeps, eats, poops, looks around with an incredible alertness for a newborn, smiles, poops again and falls asleep. She’s slept through the night 6-8 hours since she was 2 days old. (Am I jinxing myself by telling you that?)

   Does that help?

   I’m stuck. I’ve been thinking Princess for the girl, but that’s just SOOOO obvious and would leave the boy as the Prince. How ’bout Superboy and Wondergirl? I’m usually much more creative, but preggo-brain has got me in it’s claws.

   We use to call Vivian, Princess Poop-Poop or if you like, Triple P. I think they would be good names for the girl. As for the boy I like Chief Zoom-Zoom…admit it he is fast!

    If BG is big guy then couldn’t the boy be LG and the girl be LL (Little Lady)? …Just trying to keep it simple, here. And a third child can be Babs or Bubs or something. But then, that’s just me, I like to always keep it simple.

    It is funny I actually like The Boy. It is what we have always called our little guy, in fact his geocaching handle is (:The Boy :). My only suggestions are to use Fairytale names, like Rumplestiltskin, or animals like hedgehog (hedgie) , or mouse, or rabbit or frog. Or you can go the superhero route like Captain Dance, or Super R etc.That way you can add as many as you want according to your child’s personality and number of children you eventually have.
