The Deets on the Cleanse - Anyone else in?
Chelle and You Da Mom are cleansing their colons with me. Doesn’t that sound like fun?
I’m going to do this every 3 months and hopefully next time we’ll have even more people join in. Maybe we can even make a button! What exactly would a colon cleansing button look like?
DAY ONE
Hot water with fresh squeezed lemon juice - must be fresh squeezed and not bottled. Neutralizes your pH which can prevent cancer and many other diseases. It also helps balance the hydration of your cells and cleanses the liver very gently…etc etc..Have as much as you want - not less than 10 cups (I’m aiming for 2 kettles full - 24 cups - and using a lot of lemon. Almost like I’m eating a lemon with each cup because I’m so hungry!) Aim for mostly hot, but you can have some cold if you feel like you need it. Hot liquid opens the cells to allow the flushing to happen at a cellular level.
DAY TWO
Organic vegetable broth and can still have the water and lemon through the whole cleanse- still flushing but adding calories. Have as much as you want of both liquids, hot or cold. You probably won’t be as hungry as the first day though.
DAY THREE - DAY SEVEN OR LONGER
Only the following:
-any fresh or dried herbs or spices to taste, but no salt
-boneless skinless chicken breast (steam, grill, bake, whatever…but no fats added, only spices - I like mine wrapped in a foil packed and steamed in the oven so it’s super moist)
-any fish - only baked or steamed, no fats added, only spices or lemon
-beans, but not canned. Must be the dried kind that you soak. (no thanks!)
-brown or wild rice, no fats added, only spices (Quinoa, amaranth, millet, and buckwheat can be used instead of rice, but that’s a lot of work.)
-flax seed
-hemp seed
-sesame seeds
-sunflower seeds - unsalted
-nut butters but not peanut
-almonds, cashews, walnuts - unsalted
-broccoli
-cucumber
-cauliflower
-onions
-garlic
-artichokes
-beets
-other red and green vegetables but not starchy ones (no peas, corn…)
-lemon water
-organic vegetable broth
-black coffee - one cup a day
-no fruit for the first 3-4 days, as long as you can stand it, to regulate your blood sugar. After that, fruit is fine, but no juices.
-if you really need a fat, only e.v. olive oil or grapeseed oil
-Take your regular medications, vitamins etc (a prenatal is good when you’re nursing with less food)
NO sugar, no dairy, no wheat. No exceptions the first week.
The first and second days are the hardest.
Leave a comment if you’re cleansing with us - we’d love to have more people to complain with!

Chelle - I feel you. Last night I felt totally hung over. I had a headache and my eyes were blurry. Supposedly it’s the toxins swimming in lemon water on their way out of our bodies. And also, extreme hunger.
I had my first cup of broth at 1 pm today (because I had to go to the store so I just had lemon water and a black coffee this morning) and it’s possibly the best meal I’ve ever had.

oh you guys are so brave! I know I really need to do this, and should do this, I just don’t think I have the willpower to actually do it!
