A year ago, a year from now…
I played at Swistle’s place and here’s my answer. Wanna play?
A year ago, I was ~3 months pregnant with my daughter, my second and potentially last child (but probably not) and had a 16 month old son that was, and still is, a holy terror full of love. I was on summer vacation from school after having only taught 1 month since my son was born and was about to move into our new house with room for the new babe.
A year from now, I’d better not be pregnant! I’ll be preparing to return to work and preparing my children for their dayhome. I’ll have a 3 1/3 year old son and a 1 1/2 year old daughter and will be contemplating the potential 3rd & final baby. I will have had no income for a long time and will likely be in debt from staying home with my kids longer than we could afford but it will totally be worth it. I’ll be looking forward to that first paycheck to help pay off things like the groceries we’ll probably have to charge.
How about you? Leave your answer in the comments or blog it and send a trackback…or both!
Yes, I revealed the decision in this post. How’s that for slipping it in randomly? Sorry for the suspense, but I have a lot of lurkers who I didn’t want to blab their big fat mouths. We’re 95% sure I’ll be taking an additional 9 months off to be home with the kids after my actual mat leave is over and won’t be returning to work until September 2009. Yay me! Boo bank account! I haven’t actually signed anything committing yet, but I’ve told them I’m pretty sure we’re going to do it. They’ve hired a temp to cover me from this September to December with the potential to extend until June if I choose. I would love to stay home until they’re both in school, but it’s just not possible unless we want to sell our house and move into a box. Plus, that imaginary 3rd baby needs a mat leave too.

awww that is wonderful news … all of it!!!
I do not think you will regret staying home. Money is nice but kids totally are nicer!
You have me thinking maybe just one more? hehe However my husband is not so convinced.

congratulations in advance! Staying home for awhile will probably be your best option. I don’t think I could handle all the stress, teething and lack of sleep while working a full time job! I always admire women who do it though!

I’m having a really hard time typing the word spaghetti this morning
Very cute post!
I hear ya about the choice to stay at home with your children. We will probably suffer financially long term for my choice as well, but it is worth it, you can’t get these years back! We just make the necessary sacrifices like not moving in the bigger home that I long for, keeping vacations low key, etc.
