Weekend Review – Theraplex (With Giveaway)

theraplexI’ve been testing out the Theraplex products. I don’t write about probably 30% of the samples I receive and I don’t respond to 75% of the pitches emailed to me, so anything I do write about I generally have fairly strong feelings about one way or another. Not so much with this one, but I have enough of an opinion that I can share it with you.

The Good, The Bad, and The (not)Ugly all rolled into one because I am feeling wordy:

While I don’t have grossly dry hands, I do have [ahem] aging skin and two young kids, meaning with the insane number of times I wash my hands in a day they get lovely little cracks in them and just feel generally gross. Not dry enough to bleed, but dry enough to be really annoying.

According to their website, Theraplex:

* Seals the skin to stop excessive moisture loss
* Increases the internal moisture and softness
* Increases the flexibility and suppleness of the skin
* Very effectively protects against irritation
* Stimulates the formation of essential lipids that surround and protect the skin cells

Theraplex ClearLotion is an “oil moisturizer for after showering or bathing” and, though I was skeptical about the word “oil” it works great and isn’t oily at all after a few seconds. I rarely remember to put it on, but when I do I feel like it seals in the moisture of my shower and keeps my skin from getting dry for most of the day. My hands could use reapplications since they’re washed so often but the rest of my body is good to go until the next time I shower. This was the best Theraplex product of all that I tried.

Theraplex HydroLotion is intended “for skin maintenance and daily protection against dry skin.” It’s a very nice, smooth lotion with none of that oogie greasy, tacky feeling. Honestly, though, it’s just lotion. I like the organic lotions I get at the grocery store just as well.

I received just teeny samples of Theraplex Emollient (for skin way worse than mine and I didn’t try it) and Theraplex FTwhich has “beta hydroxy acid and camphor to gently exfoliate and soothe rough, scaly skin, including callused feet.” I liked it fine, but the samples were too small to really be able to tell you anything about it.

So, while not a product I’d purchase for myself it might be a great product for you if you have really bothersome dry skin or eczema. I know of parents [who's] whose (you people saw that typo and didn’t tell me!) children have such bad eczema that they’d try anything, and Theraplex just might do the trick. Theraplex is available for href="http://theraplex.com/purchasing-theraplex.html">purchase from their website.

The Giveaway:
I’ll randomly draw THREE grand prize winners who will each win a Theraplex Combo Pack (pictured). It includes
*8oz. Theraplex ClearLotion oil moisturizer for after showering or bathing
*8oz. Theraplex HydroLotion daily facial and body lotion
*4.3oz. Theraplex Emollient for severely dry skin
The set is specially priced at $45.00 and you will pay…nothing!

In addition, everyone who comments (up to 50, but this isn’t TOP so I’m assuming all five of you…) will get single use samples of the products! It would be super helpful if you’d leave your mailing address in comments but since that’s totally ridiculous I’ll email you back for your address once I receive your comment in my inbox. M’kay?

Contest will be open until I remember to close it. At least a week, but frequently longer. Sometime after the August long weekend.

CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATS TO COMMENTERS 1, 2 & 4 WHO WIN GRAND PRIZES. EVERYONE ELSE WHO RESPONDED WITH THEIR ADDRESS WILL RECEIVE SAMPLES. IF YOU DIDN’T RESPOND TO MY EMAIL BY NOW, YOU ARE TOO LATE. THANKS FOR ENTERING!
