Crap, it’s been busy around here.

Over the long weekend we had three sets of visitors which is like heaven for me but they kept me from my laptop. Those bastards.

Kidding.

On Saturday we had a visit from a great friend and her kiddo from Primo’s original baby group back in the day. She brought her new-ish boyfriend along to meet the Big Guy (he approved and he’s always right so…you can marry him now Lori!) and we all enjoyed a lovely (if I do say so myself) lunch and an extended play date.

Later that same day my mother in law and her husband came and handed us a wad of cash to go out for dinner. Pretty much the definition of awesome, no? We put the kids to bed ourselves (because that’s just who we are…we’re the parents and that’s our job) and then headed out for a 4 course meal over which we ate so much we actually high fived once we’d taken the last bite. It was amazing. If you live near a Ric’s Grill, you need to eat there. Mmmmm…still salivating.

-Chili ginger chicken & tuscan vegetable flatbread for appies…
-French onion soup…some of the best we’ve ever had…
-Coconut curry chicken with basmati rice & vegetables…same meal I had at our rehearsal dinner and is fan-freaking-tastic…
-Creme Brulee and four layer chocolate cake with raspberry puree and fresh whipped cream

Monday brought the annual labour day classic football game so I spent Sunday night and Monday morning making a ton of food for the Big Guy and his friends. Yes, I know. I am a rockin’ cool wife. I ate some too, but I’m not a football fan so I ate it upstairs.

The Big Guy is on a week long staycation so today we took the kids on their first trip to the zoo. It was fantastic and I’m too tired to bother with pics at the moment. As soon as I get a chance I’ll share a few. It’s hard to get good images through a zoo enclosure though, so don’t hold your breath.

Tomorrow brings Bella’s 6 month shots. Yuck. (Yes, she’s almost 8 months old…I adjust their schedules for safety.)
