SSS Bug Guard Plus IR3535
I recently received a bottle of SSS Bug Guard Plus IR3535 from Avon.
It’s a tricky one for me to review since we haven’t really had a buggy year. A super cold winter and a spring full of frosts killed the little bastards off. However, we’ve been dumped on over the past week so we may be able to really test it soon.
The concept is one that I love. A more natural un-pesticide with a more natural sunscreen mixed in. Sounds good to me! It’s got a time-release technology that creates an invisible barrier that supposedly provides eight hours of protection against certain insects, and the SPF 30 formula also provides water-resistant sunscreen “when used properly.”
I don’t so much understand the chemicals, but the PAN pesticide database gives it an acute hazard warning label of 3: Caution, so that’s definitely of concern & worth further investigation.
American friends, you can get it (and the kitchen sink – lucky buggers) from Amazon! (It’s $12.50, but the pump is only seven bucks right now!) If you’re Canadian, you can get it by contacting your Avon rep.
Here’s the EPA fact sheet on IR3535 – rather an interesting read if you’re a dork like me.
