About Me
last updated July 2009
I am a mom, yet so much more. Wife, daughter, sister, fur-baby mama, friend, teacher, geek-in-training, fitness instructor, personal trainer, amateur photographer…and I blog about it all, so you never know what you’re gonna get!
Since I can’t be relied on to accurately count to 100, here’s what you get instead of a 100 things list.
Because who doesn’t love bullets?
• You know me by my middle name.
• Married to the big guy (aka the BG) for 5 years & together for eight.
• Deliriously happy about number 2.
• Mommy to a gorgeous little man (known here as Primo) born in April 2006 and a beautiful baby girl (known here as Bella) born January 2008.
• Turned 30 in 2006.
• The BG is 353 days older than me.
• Animal lovers, all of us.
• We currently have 1 cat and 2 dogs. They are our fur-babies and are a very important part of our family. If that’s not something you “get,” you should probably go elsewhere.
• I had a german short haired retriever from birth until I was 5. She died of poisoning that we think she picked up on a run in a farmer’s field. Very sad. I loved her!
• I used to eat her food and she loved to share with me. I spent my toddler years with a lump of dog chow in my cheek at all times. The doctor said there were far worse things that would end up in my mouth.
• From ages 5-16 our family had a shih-tzu names Chan. He was like my very hairy brother.
• I have a non-hairy brother named John. He and his partner Cindy have two daughters, A (8 years old) & J (2 years old).
• Daughter to Jack & Betty (aka Mom n’ Dad or Gramma Betty & Grampa Jack) – they also rule (are you getting my drift here? I love my family.) (Grandpa Jack passed away from the effects of chemotherapy – he was cancer free – in September 2008.)
• Sister-in-law to S (aka SIL)– she also rules.
• Daughter-in-law to K (C) (aka FIL) and J (R) (aka MIL)…guess what – they also rule.
• We bought our second home in August 2007 after selling the first one in, like, eleven minutes.
• We finally have a garage!
• We used to have a big landscaped yard that we loves (and so did the dogs & Primo). We moved to a postage stamp of grass, but a bigger house. Less work!
• I have no over-riding fears but I hate moths.
• I have about 5 25 100 grey hairs at the top of my head. They peek through the part. I dye them. When they are visible, BG calls them “platinum blonde.” He’s nice.
• The BG only has one but he denies it.
• I am fairly athletic.
• Former lifeguard – I let it all expire after high school, but I still love swimming.
• We both love to lift weights.
• I love thunderstorms as long as I am inside.
• I especially love the sound of thunder.
• We love fireworks – especially the BG – the dogs are afraid of them.
• I can’t sit for long periods of time. The BG can.
• I get bored easily. The BG doesn’t.
• When I’m bored, I organize.
• I hate making beds – The BG is a great bed maker but doesn’t do it very often. He should.
• I love my friends.
• I don’t talk to my friends often enough…thank goodness for email and facebook!
• I love flowers.
• I love the prairies.
• I love the mountains, but always appreciate getting back to the prairies.
• I can’t draw – at all – not even a little bit.
• Six year olds think I am a wonderful artist.
• I worked at McDonalds when I was 14. The BG loves to make fun of me for that.
• The BG didn’t have any stupid jobs, but did work at a meat packing plant – yuck.
• I hate shoes. I wear flip flop and sandals. Shoes must be slip-ons unless they are running shoes.
• I hate socks more than I hate shoes. I have to be really cold before I’ll put them on.
• I love my label maker.
• I love my glue gun.
• I love my cordless drill.
• I am a perfectionist.
• It is frustrating when I can’t perform up to my own standards.
• It is more frustrating when I have to pay someone else lots of money to do something for me. Especially when they don’t perform up to my standards.
• I have a degree in Psychology.
• I worked with adults and teens with disabilities for several years.
• That pays shit so I went back to school.
• I work in my dream job – when I’m not home with my children, which is my REAL dream job.
• The BG is a computer geek and loves his job too.
• We’re very lucky to both be happy in our jobs.
• We’re even luckier to be so happy at home.
• We both come from great families and are so excited to have our own!
